I have love/hate relationship with WordPress. It is great blog platform and I’m using it for years now. Never had a problem with it. Mainly because I’m making shure that everything is updated to its latest version. Every new version also brings a great new features. I will keep using it for this blog in the future also. But as system administrator, I know that WordPress can also be a huge pain in the ass. In many cases, people just forget about their sites and updates. As a result, their sites are getting hacked. In 99% this is because of old version of WordPress, themes or plugins.
So, to the point of this post. There is a great WordPress app for iOS and Android. A must have when traveling and/or when you don’t have computer access. App is free. It’s great app with great user interface. But it’s still missing – I think – essential feature. There is still no simple way to create WordPress gallery with this app. I’m missing this feature since ever. As I read on some forums, they promissed that this feature will be implemented with new versions, but still nothing.
Luckily, there is a workaround. It’s possible to create WordPress gallery with mobile application. To do so, just folow this simple steps:
- Create new wordpress post and save it as Draft.
- Upload your images to this post.
- Edit this post with HTML mode enabled. Remove all image code (<img> and <a> tags) from your post.
- Insert this short code to your post on place where you want your gallery ( remove spaces ):
[ gallery link=”file” columns=”4″ ] - Save and publish your post.
This method should create WordPress gallery of previously uploaded images in your post. In this case, gallery with 4 columns will be created. You can edit this value as you like. As I said it before, this is super useful when you’re on the road and you don’t have computer access. And remember! Keep your stuff updated! :)
